The Guy on the tv commercial says today's cars are 95 percent cleaner emissions than the seventies........
So what's the problem?
Mount St Helen's and a couple other major volcanic eruptions, each doing large doses of greenhouse gases.
Hurricanes, Drought, Non-stop fires over 1/3 of the U.S. - all are destroying large trees.....NOT COUNTING THE NORMAL ON PURPOSE LOGGING.
I bet if someone did get a program to do a google earth via satellite and estimate the LARGE TREE ACREAGE of the U.S. and other Countries that we would have ONLY 1/3 TO 1/2 THE LARGE TREE ACREAGE OF TEN YEARS AGO.
It doesn't count to have greenery it HAS TO BE LARGE TREE ACREAGE!!!
The results? Along with the rainforest losses, we have the loss of earth's capability to clean and convert co2 and release the oxygen into our atmosphere causing not as much moisture in the air to diffuse and dissipate sunlight before it hits our oceans.
This means the oceans get warmer. More sunlight on the Warmer Oceans means they will fuel dramatically stronger hurricanes, & tornadoes due to the more dramatic temperature differences.
At the same time, water to condense into a liquid requires a particle of dirt or pollution. With the higher ratios of pollution it means the water condenses sooner than it would in a pristine environment - meaning the moisture under current conditions stays in the atmosphere for shorter and shorter time periods.
Once again causing the spread of larger and larger arid low moisture fronts causing more violent storms and conditions.
They're pushing exotic cures and IGNORING THE FACT THAT NEARLY 2/3 OF OUR PREVIOUS LARGE TREE POPULATIONS ARE DEAD!!!!
Large companies should have a yearly tax to give free seedlings to surrounding Landowners to reduce their carbon footprint - enough to clean and offset their atmospheric output.
All Properties in the cities not meeting a certain tree ratio normally found in the countryside should have a TAX FOR THIS PURPOSE ALSO TO SUPPLY FREE SEEDLINGS TO LANDOWNERS IN THE SUBURBS to reduce pollution and acquire better air quality around the cities.
Regardless of the commercial ALL OF THEM SHOULD BE PROMOTING PLANTING LARGE TREES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
{commercials}
"PLANT LARGE TREES!!!!!.............buy a hybrid
"PLANT LARGE TREES!!!!!............Install solar panels
"PLANT LARGE TREES!!!!!...........reduce emissions
"GOING GREEN ISN'T ENOUGH - PLANT LARGE TREES!!!!"
"Houston! we HAVE A PROBLEM!!! We are on this Space Journey and 2/3 of our OXYGEN SCRUBBERS ARE DESTROYED AND NON FUNCTIONAL!!!!!....."
"Yea, it like THAT!
It's NOT as complicated as they'd like you to believe.........
..........the missing moisture output to the atmosphere and the normal atmospheric scrubbing action of the missing LARGE trees accounts for it all. Watch the news and see how the low humidity fronts keep getting BIGGER and BIGGER...............
causing bigger and MORE TURBULENT WEATHER due to the dramatic differences in the fronts.
Current "experts" see green and think everything's peachy dory..... having only SHRUBS instead of LARGE TREES
THE GREEN NEEDS TO BE LARGE TREE POPULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!
WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....................BEFORE YOU CAN'T!!!!!!!!!!
We need to start NOW because it takes 7 to ten years before a tree is big enough to make a difference.
i CAN'T HELP BUT KEEP FEELING THE NEED TO SAY - WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Admire the passion. Consider reading about PRIORITY ONE on Amazon, which includes both respect for your idea, and for deep root farming.
Voted it down, as prairies are also carbon sinks, and your push for "large trees" did not specify a preference for native tree species.
We need extensive, functioning, natural ecosystems, and corridors for species migration as global climate change accelerates.
biodiversity is part of the needed toolbox, not just some generic "large tree" species.
your heart is in the right place, but your overly simple remedy could be a harm
Planting trees is good, but let's stop cutting them down! I am appalled daily when I see new developments or new roads going up in my area, with little to no thought to minimizing tree damage. This must stop. I want to scream it from the rooftops, we are at a dire crossroads, and we have to stop killing the planet's lungs, not in ten years, not in increments, but now!
sorry guys, but the latest science shows older trees actually emit co2. it is only the younger trees that absorb co2. so in essence, if you want to reduce co2 (bad idea really, it is plant food after all)you need to ELIMINATE old growth in favor of new plantings.
Cool comment. This is exactly what Collective Intelligence can accomplish, what we do not have is the "World Brain" Web 4.0 system. If the Obama Administration could create that, starting with Medard Gabel's brilliant EarthGame design (he was co-designer with Buckminster Fuller of the original analog World Game).
Old growth forests do emit some CO2, but they absorb more than they emit.
What global warming? Anybody notice it's actually been getting cooler in the last few years? The critical factor may well be that we're in a very deep low for both sunspots and solar output. Turn down the heater and things are bound to cool off.
Before trying to fix the problem it's important to know a whole lot more, such as whether or not there is a real problem. We have enough to worry about these days. This one's a non issue and I'm not just talking about trees. Let's quit wasting time and money on subjects such as cap and trade.
Climate change will not destroy the planet. Further, we have sufficiently advanced technology to do climate engineering should it become problematic. Also, huge numbers of trees are already replanted, due to requirements on the logging industry.
As a side note, the bulk of carbon emissions come from fossil fuels and coal. Planting trees will be at best zero the logging and farming losses. It will not compensate for the other carbon sources.
Voting down due to technical infeasibility.
