End Media Monopolies

Why Is This Idea Important?: The tools and technologies are there. We need only to make proper use of them. Let everyone have a say.

Mass media misinformation campaigns have controlled the American public opinion for too long. It's no secret that the media is controlled by a handful of rich and powerful companies which only present the "facts" as they want them to be viewed. The faces and voices we see and hear are only those approved and influenced by lobbyist, government officials, corporations and other private interest groups that control and manage information behind the scenes. Objectivity is laughable at best. The media is only public when the public has both access and the ability to contribute to what is being seen, said and heard. How many times do you hear an independent reporter on the news? The media was meant to present different perspectives on issues so people could gather the "facts" and form their own opinions. The media was meant to be a check and balance not a lap dog for government policies and officials. Free the media!

  1. Another angle to this issue is for people to work towards gaining ground in pulling together people and resources to create media that competes and eventually displaces existing inept media.

Whatever happened to anti-trust laws, where government actively went after monopolies and broke them up. The too big to fail would have never even been heard of back in the day. Our government has fallen, and fallen hard. The rule of law under the republic is a joke and the constitution is far to easily interpreted to mean anything. Heavens knows what the Judiciary branch of government is doing, not reinforcing the constitution, thats for sure.
