Filing Taxes

Why Is This Idea Important?: Obama said he would try to get something like this passed in Congress. I believe he said it would take us no longer than 30 minutes, if he could push that through Congress.

The complexity of filing taxes should be simplfied and made easier for Americans instead of taking 36 hours on average to even complete them.

    Agreed. Also, why not expose the income people declare on their tax returns in their own local communities and nationwide either via internet or at a local office. Would you be more honest knowing your neighbour might be looking at what you declare?

    While I disagree with the privacy issues of the former comment, I do believe the US tax code is far too complex. In New Zealand and Australia, the tax code is far simpler and more straightforward, this could be a possible model for the tax code language in the US?
