Stop the Presidential Debates being run by the Democratic Party and the GOP

Why Is This Idea Important?: This is fundamental to honest, fair dialogue between politicians and the general public.

The Presidential Debates are obviously very influential, but they are currently run by the Commission on Presidential Debates, which, in turn, is run by the Democratic Party and the Republican Party. This is fundamentally undemocratic.

It may make better television to have a "head-to-head" debate, but the election of the President is too important for that and more voices need to be heard by the nation.

Not going to happen, this is like asking a Farmer's market judge to be an American Idol judge, you can't just delegate this very important responsibility to people that do not fully understand this task. The presidential debates are not broken, yes we need to add more public collaborated questions, but if we elected President Obama using this method, them I don't think we should try to fix something that it's obviously not broken.

I am not for democrats or republicans, I am for whoever stands for the well being of all, and for upholding life. liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That being said politics seems to be just about pointing fingers and not doing anything to fix it. I have called many political offices, and usually they point fingers also. It is time for our country to grow up and act like adults even more so for our politicians. I am Not interested in what party anybody is for as long as they are for well being I am for them!

  3. Is the suggestion that CPD should not be running debates? Should the government be running them?

    I totally agree!

This control by CPD has prevented independent candidates from being included in televised debates and gives two parties all of the advantage.

Why shouldn't anyone who is running have the same opportunity to participate. This is a closed club for two organizations who are becoming so similar and diluted in their platforms that it's no longer a real choice.

The two parties are becoming nothing more than businesses focused on keeping the public distracted while the beat goes on.

It should be required that anyone who will be on the ballot gets FAIRLY included in any public debates. This can't happen when the "too big to fail" political parties are in control.
