Communications systems _ IRS

Why Is This Idea Important?: Efficiency, respect for taxpayers' time, and lowering of stress for callers regarding tax questions. Probably less costly for taxpayers to have this kind of a system, as well, if there is a toll-free number being utilized for excessively long hold times.

You might check with Southwest Airlines, and find out how their anwering sytem works, or who is the party that does their contracting for their customer service system. The system will automatically redial your number with an available agent as soon as one is available. Yesterday, I spent almost 45 minutes waiting an IRSperson who could respond to a question (but not answer it, as it turned out). They were not aware that such answering systems were available.

Rather then spending more money on this agency, and all the tax code. It is past time to abolish the code and agency. Replace it with a Federal 10% Sales Tax.

Even better yet why not abolish the IRS? Just because the gov. used the office to catch a couple of gangsters for tax evasion cause the cops couldn't doesn't really give them the credibility and power they have now...

In point of fact, no federal employee should be permitted to set his/her telephone to "voice mail" during business hours.
